Millions of people have wounds that will not heal. The Center for Wound Care at Northwest Hospital has a highly skilled team of experts who provides comprehensive wound treatments to help patients return to a healthy lifestyle as quickly and painlessly as possible.
Non Healing Wounds
Wound care specialists should be consulted when wounds will not heal. In addition to being painful, they can lead to infections and, in the worse cases, gangrene or amputation.
Wounds develop for a variety of reasons. Among them are:
- Diabetes, cancer and certain other diseases
- Ulcers and bedsores
- Animal and insect bites
- Poor circulation
- Chronic bone infections
- Radiation tissue damage
- Skin grafts
- Crush injuries
- Surgery or trauma
- Fungus infections
Our Program
Doctors at the Center for Wound Care at Northwest Hospital provide evaluations, diagnoses, treatments and post-acute outreach services using cutting-edge, evolving technologies to determine the exact cause of a non-healing wound.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
One of the therapies used to treat chronic wounds is hyperbaric oxygen therapy. This is a specialized medical treatment in which the patient breathes 100% oxygen inside a pressurized chamber.
The Northwest Hospital HBOT program is one of less than 100 nationally recognized, accredited facilities from the Undersea Hyperbaric Medical Society. Learn more about HBOT
Comprehensive, individualized care plans are created for each patient to effectively manage complex wounds that have not responded to conventional treatment.
The Northwest Hospital team of experts stays in touch with you until the wound is healed or stable. Your referring physician also remains involved in and informed about your progress.
